Best Black Friday deals! Get them first!

Black Friday is almost here, (two days to go!) but unless you’ve been living in a hole, you can’t fail to have noticed that many retailers such as Amazon, Argos, and Tesco’s have some of their best deals already on offer.

The pre-Christmas sales bonanza that we inherited from our friends in the U.S. about five years ago, isn’t supposed to begin until Friday – the day after Thanksgiving. However, retailers are so keen to snaffle our cash that they’ve been dangling large, carrot-shaped Black Friday bargains in front of our noses for days.

Black Friday always used to be a one-day affair when the nation sat back in horror and amusement as punch-ups over knockdown TVs made news headlines, but someone, somewhere (we’re not sure who) appears to have re-written the rule book.  Now, almost everyone is getting in on the act early.

This year, Amazon was the first horse out of the box launching Black Friday deals daily from November 14. Morrisons followed suit, tempting shoppers with bargains on prosecco, wine and beer. eBay then jumped on the bandwagon, as did Argos, Boots, Tesco and Carphone Warehouse, to name but a few.

So is Black Friday redundant?

No. Some shops may have released deals early, but many are promising new and better deals come Black Friday itself. Other stores are standing firm, refusing to unveil any deals ahead of the big day, so there will definitely be some bargains to be had. We will round up all the best deals and where to find them here, so keep an eye out.

Be in the know

There’s a few simple things you can do to make sure you stay ahead of the game during the Black Friday mega-shop.

Info: Sign up to store emails so you get all the information first. It’s worth following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too. If you’re after something from Amazon, Amazon Prime is worth getting as members (even those still within their free 30-day trial) get to enjoy an exclusive 30-minute early access period to all Amazon’s Lightning Deals, which are subject to availability and start at a particular time.

Opening times: If you plan on visiting a certain store, check out its opening hours and make sure you’re there in good time to beat the crowds. Some stores, like Tesco, are planning to open early this year.

Research: If you’re after a certain product, work out what model you want first. Look at customer reviews, get your head around the jargon, and make sure you’re happy with the specifications ahead of time. This will save you time and ensure you end up with a product that you’re happy with.

Mobile: Experts predict many Black Friday sales will be done via mobile this year, so download store apps and get your payment details loaded up in advance.
